Inauguration and MLK Weekend

Spent the day before inauguration in DC to both walk around and celebrate my birthday.

One of my favorite books is A Knock at Midnight, which is a collection of sermons from MLK. Reading Dr. King’s writings adds a lot more depth to understanding just how insanely intelligent this man was; his ability to craft arguments, invoke emotion and tell a compelling story was really incredible. I’ve seen video of his oratory delivery but that’s really just the surface of his speaking power. You think Steve Jobs gave a good keynote? Those were nothing by comparison.

Religious or not, there’s a lot we can all learn from him in regards to human decency, inner strength and fighting for something you believe in. It’s a continual honor to have a birthday so close to his.
